United Way
Grant Opportunities Available for
Schools and Youth Organizations

|
Somerset County United Way has established annual grant
opportunities to support programs in Somerset County schools
and youth serving, community-based organizations and governmental
entities in Somerset County. Grant amounts vary and will
be given to eligible organizations.
Requirements For All
Three Grants
- Funds
must be used directly for support of youth or schools
in Somerset County.
- Review Process
and Notification: A
special committee of Somerset County United Way’s
Board of Trustees will review the applications and approve
funding amounts after the grant deadline has passed. Notification
will be made and funds will be distributed to grantees
within one month of that date.
- Organizations
receiving grants must agree to post a sign provided by
Somerset County United Way in a prominent location at
their facility.
- Eight (8) copies of the application must be submitted.

| Funds
must be used directly for support of organizations serving youth
in Somerset County. Examples of eligible uses include but are not
limited to: scholarships to allow youth from low-income families
to participate in the program, special projects, equipment purchase,
modifications needed to allow children with disabilities to participate
in the program or general support. Sponsorship of an individual
team is not allowed. |

| The P.E.A.C.E. (Partnering
Education And Community Enrichment) Mini-Grant allows schools to
apply for up to $1,000 worth of funding to implement a project that
incorporates New Jersey Cross-Content Workplace Readiness Standards,
Six Pillars of Character education and a community service project. |

The School Wide V.I.P. (Verizon in Partnership) Grant allows
schools to apply for up to $5,000. worth of funding to address
a documented need in their school while incorporating learning,
character education and a community service project. Deadline
is fast approaching. Applications must be received by May 12th
to stay eligible.
